Visiting Vancouver Island

A bit of nostalgia along with something new

sunny 20 °C

My friend Susan visited me last week and in addition to showing her around my neighbourhood we spent a day on Vancouver Island. She was a summer student at the University of British Columbia years ago but had never been to the island. So we caught the ferry at Horseshoe Bay, crossed to Nanaimo and drove on the Malahat Highway to Victoria. After walking around the inner harbour with its hotels, whale watching boats etcetera we went for tea to the Empress Hotel which along with the Provincial Legislature also faces the harbour. Then we drove to Swartz Bay and caught the ferry back to Vancouver. A busy but very nice day.
