ANDREA'S BIG, BIG ADVENTURE APRIL 26-30, 2010

GETTING A CROSSED EYE STRAIGHTENED AND OTHER FUN STUFF

all seasons in one day 12 °C

Single Mother Andrea.....see my earlier Blog entry about my trip to Quesnel.....was born with a crossed eye (see picture----cute eh?) When you live in a remote community, despite a modern hospital etcetera, things like eye straightening operations just aren't available and a top-notch specialist was required because she had an earlier operation which only held up for a few years.

Well as luck would have it, guess who lives in the big city of Vancouver? So I had the pleasure of daughter Melinda's and granddaughter Andrea's company from April 26th to 30th and I am not complaining one bit. Don't stop reading girls this gets interesting.

Andrea's ex's parents cared for her two little girls, both under four, without mishap and in Vancouver I acted as tour guide, navigator ,shopping companion and advisor. Melinda had to rent a car since my Smartcar wouldn't hold us all. So we went for the pre-operation consultation and then the operation which was successful as you can see from the picture.

And did we have fun....Robson Street is Vancouver's version of Rodeo Drive and I think we visited every big name store. Also Pacific Centre is probably our most upscale shopping centre and we hardly missed a store except for men's wear, sports stores and the like. (see pictures of the girls modelling clothes for me) We didn't scimp on eating out either.......one side salad cost about $20.00 each and we didn't stop at salads!

Old man with new HOODIE

This last picture has been added because my daughter objected to my not admitting I had shopped as well. As you can see I bought something I had always wanted...A HOODIE...all the young guys here wear them. Well I found it in a nondescript basement corner of the only department store we visited. The girls prefer designer shops! And who could blame them. But I admit it I bought this Hoodie and I love it. Also it was on sale for $28.00 tax included.
